What Is Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture?

Facial rejuvenation acupuncture is based on the principles of Oriental Medicine and involves the insertion of hair-thin needles into special points on the face and body that balance the individual’s energy system and improve circulation to the face. Thousands of years ago the Chinese discovered that many energy pathways begin or end on the face. By manipulating specific points with acupuncture needles, the circulation to the face can be profoundly effected. Practitioners of facial rejuvenation acupuncture use special points that revitalize the face, while also addressing underlying metabolic imbalances that contribute to the aging process. (body text)

How does this Method Compare to a Surgical Facelift ?

Acupuncture cannot reshape your face or give the extreme tightening effect of surgery. But it also doesn’t carry the risk of trauma and disfigurement, entail lengthy recovery time, and ultimately erase the character and natural look of your face. Acupuncture provides a subtle but noticeable rejuvenation and radiance that is completely safe, virtually painless, has no side effects, and at a fraction of the cost of surgical procedures. With facial rejuvenation acupuncture you can take 5-15 years off your face by improving circulation and building collagen, while balancing your overall health. (sans body)

What is the Course of Treatment?

Generally, it consists of 12 treatments, with effects becoming most noticeable and lasting, at about the seventh session. Each person responds differently depending on his or her health and lifestyle prior to beginning. Following the initial series, results can be maintained for 5-10 years with monthly maintenance sessions. It is also helpful to nourish the skin and body with proper nutrition, supplements, herbs, healthful facial care products, and appropriate lifestyle habits, all of which can be recommended by your practitioner.

Are there any Counter indications?

Facial rejuvenation acupuncture is contraindicated for some pituitary disorders, heart disorders, diabetes, high blood pressure, people who have pacemakers, problems with bleeding or bruising, or who currently suffer from migraine headaches. Also, the treatments should not be done during pregnancy, during a bout with a cold or flu, during an allergy attack, or during an acute herpes attack.

What Does it Cost?

Each 1 ½ hour session costs $185. Twelve sessions are recommended. These can be scheduled twice a week or weekly.

Can Any Practitioner Administer these Treatments?

Facial rejuvenation requires special training and a high degree of skill in needling techniques. Your practitioner should be a licensed acupuncturist with special training in facial rejuvenation techniques.

I have been in practice for 15 years, and have completed additional training with experts in the field of facial rejuvenation. I have been certified in facial rejuvenation acupuncture by Virginia Doran, L.Ac., one of the leading experts in this field.

How Do I Get Started?

I always start with a ½ hour in-person consultation to determine if you are a good candidate for this treatment, answer your questions, and set up your program. The cost of this is applied toward your first treatment. I also may recommend a good skin care routine and suggest appropriate supplements and herbs. You can call me or email me to set up a time.
