Oolong is not a specific type of tea leaf but a process. Fermentation from green to red, the normal method for tea, is halted when the tea is about 70% green. After the tea has been rubbed and heated it is judged by a tea master. Taiwan oolong, the kind we sell if considered top grade. Oolong, because it is not a specific type can vary widely (as in cheap to fine with taste reflecting the difference). Our oolong is rich but not harsh and with a gentle brewing hand will give up many more and better cups per ounce than the less expensive form. class

The 20th century was in its infancy when a British tea merchant presented Queen Ellizabeth II with a sample of this special, dark Oolong. The Queen Herself bestowed the name Oriental Beauty and its has stuck ever since. It is also known as Formosan Champagne. Its Chinese name is "Bai Hao" Oolong or White Tip Oolong and it's special, husky but refined taste has garnered many fans for this refeshing and deeply satisfying tea. class
